Gold Line Eastside Extension To Open Nov. 15th!
For those of you living in southern California, your general area is about to get a light rail upgrade. In a press release yesterday the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Los Angeles (Metro) set a pretty firm opening date of November 15th 2009 for the Gold Line Eastside Extension. As LA transit nerds know, Metro has broken hearts on this before. But this time I think it's legit. They haven't set a firm date since June.
So come on up to LA and ride this line on the first day. It connects downtown LA and east LA. It took five years and almost a billion dollars to build and it goes through a neighborhood where lots of people ride transit. Oh, and use common sense crossing the street: no jaywalking!
19 full days to go including today.
